The Solano County Chapter of Project Linus is looking for volunteer "blanketeers" to make blankets that will be given to children in our area who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need of a gift of a hand-made blanket.
Project Linus welcomes blankets of all styles, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors. Blankets must be new, handmade and washable.
Our "Blanketeers" range in age from 8- 83. Many of our area schools have requirements for students to complete community services hours every year. They find this to be a fun way to fulfill that need.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.

Meeting Place: Fellowship Hall - Epiphany Church, 300 West St (at the corner of Buck Ave), Vacaville, CA 95688, US
Project Linus is a non-profit organization with a two-fold mission. First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers." Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.
Named after the blanket-toting Peanuts character, Project Linus ( www.projectlinus.org) is a national all-volunteer organization that provides comfort and security to seriously ill and traumatized children through handmade blankets. Since its inception in 1995, Project Linus' chapters have distributed more than 6 million handmade blankets to children in need around the country.
The Solano County chapter of Project Linus opened in November 2008 and is currently donating blankets to many organizations throughout Solano County, including Child Welfare Services, Sutter Solano Emergency Room, Fisher House at Travis AFB, David Grant Medical Center Neo-Natal and Pediatric units,Birthing centers of Kaiser Hospitals in Vacaville and Vallejo, Nurse Family Partnership, Dixon Community Medical Center and Vallejo Together.
Our Chapter has donated over 17,500 blankets to the children of Solano County.
