AMIGOS Summer Experience: High School and College Opportunities
As a AMIGOS Summer Volunteer, you live with a host family in Latin America for 4-8 weeks, working closely with one or two other AMIGOS Volunteers, as well as with youth in the community. You will receive the training you need before-hand and the support you need during your stay to collaborate with the community. Together, you will complete a variety of educational, environmental and community health projects, and carry out a community project that uniquely meets the needs of your host community.
In 2016 we will host summer projects in:
- Dominican Republic
- Costa Rica
- Colombia-College only
- Nicaragua-Gap Program
AMIGOS Gap Program
Our AMIGOS Gap Program is designed for young adults who wish to gain an extended international volunteer and immersion experience before, during, or after college. The Gap Semester or Year combines independent volunteer field work, community development internship placements and excursions around the host country. With program placements available in Nicaragua, Colombia, and Brazil, opportunities with AMIGOS Gap offer diverse cultural, structural, and professional experiences for high school graduates up to the age of 25.
