If you have a passion for caring for others and are looking for a way to make a difference in people’s lives, consider becoming a hospice volunteer. Our volunteers are an important part of our hospice care team, helping improve the quality of life for our patients, their families and their caregivers.
The activities you will do as an Amedisys hospice volunteer may be many and varied. From reading at a patient’s bedside and knitting lap blankets, to running errands, providing pet therapy or helping with administrative duties - there's a wide range of possibilities.
Common volunteer activities often include:
- Reading and writing letters with family and patients
- Playing games
- Participating in pet therapy
- Scrapbooking or other crafts
- Companionship
- Running errands
- Arranging flowers
- Walking pets or other tasks to help keep things running smoothly
- Providing emotional support for the patient and the family
- Providing breaks for family and friend caregivers
- Making spiritual prayer calls
- Attending funerals and memorial services
- Bereavement support
- Doing hair and nails
- Office and clerical work

COMPASSIONATE VOLLUNTEERS NEEDED
Amedisys Hospice Services of Roseburg offers hospice services to the terminally ill families in our community. A very important part of this service is the use of volunteers. Hospice volunteers are special people who are interested in helping our patients and their families with errands, companionship and emotional support. Our hospice is also in need of clerical/administrative volunteers to help out in our agency.
New hospice volunteers participate in free training. If you have a desire to make a difference in the lives of hospice patient's in your community please contact Joanie Campbell Volunteer Coordinator at 541-440-2583
