Volunteers are needed to assist customers and help keep the ReStore organized and running smoothly. Hours are: Tuesday-Saturday from 9:00 a.m- 5:00 p.m. Volunteer Shifts include: Full day shifts: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Morning shifts: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Afternoon shifts: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM The ReStore is a retail outlet for donated, new and gently used building materials and home improvement items. Our staff and volunteers serve Habitat for Humanity's mission of eliminating substandard housing and improving the community. The ReStore offers a wide variety of volunteer activities each day and they change daily depending on donations, deliveries, sales and other special event needs and at the direction of the ReStore Management Volunteer opportunities include: Customer Service/Stock - Greeting and thanking customers, assisting customers with purchases, pricing, displaying and organizing merchandise, assisting in the carpet center, ensuring product areas are neat and tidy, answering general questions about the ReStore and Habitat Detroit, etc. Shipping and Receiving - Assisting with loading and unloading of donations and purchases, keeping the shipping/receiving area organized and neat, etc. Truck Helper/Donation Pick-up - Assists drivers on and off-site with loading and unloading donations, providing navigation assistance to driver when traveling to mapped pick up locations and keeping the vehicle interior clean and organized Clerical - Assisting office staff with filing, data entry, making copies, answering incoming and making outgoing phone calls, shredding paper, updating the community bulletin board, creating flyers, etc. Clerical volunteer opportunities may not be available every day. They are available on an as needed basis ReCap Appliance Center - provides an opportunity to learn basic appliance inspection and repair, cleaning and maintaining appliances, preparing warranty inspection/information, etc. The ReCap Appliance program has a limited number of available spaces and requires a participant interview. One day opportunities are available. The ReStore is also looking for volunteers able to commit to one day each week or every other week.
