Ushers greet guests, help them find their seats and hand out programs. Ushers have the opportunity to see the show after all guests have been seated. If there are any late arrivals, it will be the responsibility of the Ushers to seat them at an appropriate time, as quietly as possible. Ushers assist with the concessions during intermission. After the show, they make sure the theatre is presentable and ready for the next performance. Many Ushers volunteer with friends or family members. There are a minimum of six Ushers per Mainstage performance, and four Ushers per Kate Goldman Children's Theatre performance. An initial training session in theatre and safety procedures is required by The Playhouse, as is annual update/informational meeting. Visit for a current list of shows.
