HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting Medicare Beneficiaries. Volunteers are needed to help seniors and disabled navigate the Medicare system. Currently, the Manteca Senior Center, LOEL, Lolli Hansen Senior Center and Garden Acres Community Center are HICAP volunteer stations. HICAP volunteers assist in a free service that includes community education and individual counseling. Volunteers are trained as HICAP counselors and are registered through the California Department of Aging. HICAP also pays volunteer transportation costs with mileage expenses at approximately $0.45 per mile with no maximum reimbursement amount.
