HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting Medicare Beneficiaries. Volunteers are needed to help seniors and disabled navigate the Medicare system. Currently, the Manteca Senior Center, LOEL, Lolli Hansen Senior Center and Garden Acres Community Center are HICAP volunteer stations. HICAP volunteers assist in a free service that includes community education and individual counseling. Volunteers are trained as HICAP counselors and are registered through the California Department of Aging. HICAP also pays volunteer transportation costs with mileage expenses at approximately $0.45 per mile with no maximum reimbursement amount. Description

Make a Difference in Your Community!

The San Joaquin County (SJC) Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
