ORGANIZATION: Golden Gate Bird Alliance (formerly Golden Gate Audubon Society)

Each month Golden Gate Audubon sponsors workdays where volunteers help restore habitat for the California Quail, the official bird of the City and County of San Francisco and of the State of California. We plant native species, remove invasives, and do general maintenance at Harding Park, next to Lake Merced. This program is currently a part of a National Audubon program called Together Green Volunteer Days, inspiring people everywhere to take action to improve the health of our environment.

Next Workdays:

  • Saturday, December 5, 9 a.m. to noon; Planting Day!
  • Saturday, January 23, 9 a.m. to noon; Weed out invasive plants.
  • Saturday, February 27, 9 a.m. to noon; Weed out invasive plants.

Directions: Meet in the large parking lot where Sunset and Lake Merced Boulevards meet. You will find us by the statue.

Founded in 1917, Golden Gate Bird Alliance is one of the oldest wildlife conservation organizations on the West Coast. We have a long history of inspiring and connecting people in the Bay Area with local birds, wildlife and their habitats and today play a critical role in Bay Area wildlife conservation. Golden Gate Bird Alliance has roughly 7,000 members and supporters in San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
