ORGANIZATION: The Lace Museum

The Lace Museum is a small specialty museum located in Sunnyvale, dedicated to preserving lace and the art of lace making. It is run entirely by volunteers and on donations. A director of development is needed to organize fund-raising and grant writing for the museum. The museum needs one individual to coordinate all fund raising appeals and grant writing opportunities. Must have experience in development. Hours are flexible and much of the work could be done from home. Availability to attend the monthly board meeting on the 3rd Monday afternoon of each month is a requirement plus ability to meet with other staff on week days. If you are volunteering for class or school/college credit please let us know in your first email or phone conversation with us.

To preserve the art of lace making, to exhibit lace and its historical use and to offer instruction in all facets of lace making.

Description

The Lace Museum is a small, all-volunteer museum located in Fremont, California. It has permanent and rotating exhibits of lace and lace making tools. Tours are offered for individuals and small groups. The collections are comprised of over 10,000 pieces of lace, lace making tools, ephemera, a library and an archive. Workshops are given both in person and virtually for beginning to experienced lace makers with teachers from around the globe. The museum supports itself through teaching, lecturing, online sales and offsite sales events.
