The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
New Song Center for Grieving Children, a program of Hospice of the Valley is a peer family grief support group program for children age 5-17, young adults age 18-25 and adults. Volunteer opportunies include becoming a trained co-facilitator to support grieving families in a group environment; greeting our families on group night and serving pizza, or assisting in the office with clerical duties and special projects as needed. Please go to www.newsongcenter.org for more information and to complete a volunteer application. We do ask our facilitators to make a one year commitment in supporting our families. Please call 480-951-8985 for additional information. We do not provide family or one-on-one professional counseling or therapy. We have support locations in Avondale, Gilbert, Phoenix and Scottsdale Arizona.
