United Way of Northern New Jersey is again sponsoring the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program to assist income-eligible individuals and families with free tax preparation and other financial information to help their families.
Volunteers will receive free training and will become certified to assist local people with their tax return preparation. Also needed are volunteers to act as greeters at tax assistance sites, translators and site coordinators for each local site.
Volunteers will work as part of a team to ensure that tax returns are properly completed and filed and that everyone has the support they need. Time frames for volunteering are flexible and based on the volunteer's availability. Locations are convenient throughout the northern NJ region including: Morris County, Northern Essex County, Somerset County, Sussex County and Warren County.
