This volunteer position is great fun! We need volunteers who can commit at least two hours per week (anytime between one pm and five pm) on a regular basis to come to the Sanctuary and pet/socialize/feed our cats. We need cat loving people who understand cats and would enjoy just sitting with them and petting them and giving them one on one attention and interaction and at the same time devote at least half their time to helping with other duties as needed (litter pans,dusting /wiping down counters/shelves, wiping faces, ears, brushing, etc. Most of the cats are very sweet and social. Some may have injuries they are recovering from, be in hospice care or might just need an extra bit of TLC! Some are fractious and are hands off.
Must be 21 and show proof of your own medical insurance.

Mission Statement
Shadow Cats will respect and show compassion to all animals. We will improve the lives of abused, abandoned, feral, stray, and injured cats. We will promote spay and neuter programs, promote Trap, Neuter and Return as the most humane method of effecting positive change in feral cat populations, provide educational and informational assistance to the public, re-home socialized cats and kittens and provide medical care to those cats under Shadow Cats guardianship.
Description
Shadow Cats is a 501c3 non-profit all volunteer group of individuals dedicated to improving the lives of abused, abandoned, feral, stray, and injured cats in Round Rock and Austin. We do not take in owner-released animals, but instead focus our efforts into helping un-owned stray and feral cats and kittens, through Trap-Neuter-Return-Maintain and/or other socialization and relocation programs. While Shadow Cats focus is not on adoption, we feel that every animal deserves the best possible placement, so socialized and friendly cats are placed into foster homes, and then join our adoption program. For animals we are unable to TNRM, who for whatever reason are unable to return to their original colony, and are un-adoptable due to medical or behavioral issues, we provide sanctuary. Our sanctuary is located in Round Rock, but we have fosters and volunteers all over Austin and it's surrounding areas.
