***Update since posting: We'll have 6 sites around Austin where you can volunteer! Check out more about this opportunity below.***
Community Tax Centers provide free income tax preparation services to Austin’s low-income families. By helping people claim all of the tax credits for which they are eligible, volunteers can give their neighbors a chance to build a financial future. In 2017, the Community Tax Centers will prepare 20,000 tax returns and bring over $35 million into the pockets of those who need it most in our community. To do this, we need more than 600 volunteers!
30% of our clients speak Spanish as their primary language. We need bilingual volunteers to help clients and our volunteer tax preparers communicate effectively. The translators help ensure that the taxpayers understand their tax return and their tax obligations.
No tax experience or special certification is required to join our team - your willingness to serve the Spanish-speaking community is your best asset! Then we'll provide a 2-hour online training that you can complete at your convenience.
Volunteers are asked to serve an average of 3 hours per week during tax season, which ends April 18, 2017.
Join our team today to ensure you're ready to serve when tax season starts. Send an email to Jackie.Cuellar@foundcom.org for more information or find our application at http://foundcom.org/volunteer-with-community-tax-centers/.
