Advocates will meet a victim of sexual assault at the hospital emergency room to provide advocacy, crisis intervention, information, and resources/referrals. Advocates provide emotional support during the examination for evidence, and/or during the process of filing a police report.
Victim advocates will respond to hospitals in the region in which they live. Advocates are on call from home, and can pick the shifts that work best for them. Victim Advocates are asked to be on-call for at least 2 shifts per month. Weekday shifts last from 5pm - 8:30am the next morning and weekend shifts are 24 hours from 8:30am - 8:30am.
