Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
CAAWS is run solely by unpaid volunteers and is governed by a Board of Directors. If you interact well with animals and people and a re free 1-3 Saturdays a month, then this is the volunteer position for you. Finding our animals good homes is one of the most important things any shelter does. As a Dog Adoption Day Volunteer you would help us do just that. Adoption days are every Saturday from 10:30am to 3:30pm. We ask for you to volunteer at least one Saturday a month. We hold adoptions at our shelter on Quinn Dr. We need help greeting the public, making sure the dogs and puppies are rotated outside , answering questions (after training), and counseling adoptions (after advanced training.) This opportunity is acceptable for community service hours.
