CAREGIVERS:Volunteers Assisting the Elderly
CAREGIVERS provides a variety of services to the elderly in Ventura County. CAREGIVERS is well regarded for its one-on-one senior companionship program. Volunteers are carefully matched with a compatible senior that lives nearby and shares similar interests. Volunteers donate 2 to 4 hours, one day per week, to spend with their senior friend. The days and times are flexible. A volunteer phones, visits, and assists a frail senior with simple household and garden tasks. Volunteers also provide transportation to a medical appointment or grocery store. Volunteers may help with errands, mail, letter writing, and general housekeeping tasks. Volunteers choose what tasks they are willing to do.
* Some seniors require dementia-friendly companions. If you are interested in that particular type of volunteering let us know. We provide basic training and match qualified volunteers for those special roles.
If you would enjoy spending time each week with a senior friend, we would love to hear from you.
