ORGANIZATION: Columbus Metropolitan Library

Want to impact students in the Northern Lights area? If yes, then the Homework Help Center is the place to be! We offer help to students K-12 to understand instructions, complete assignments and make a final check to make sure the answers are right. Volunteers should be highly engaged, possess advanced literacy skills and feel comfortable providing educational and mentor support for a wide range of students. Volunteers encourage literate behavior at all times.

Volunteers are not expected to be experts in all subjects. Your area of expertise is needed!

NOTE: The Homework Help Center schedule corresponds to the Columbus City School calendar.

Tutors fluent in Somali are welcome!

HOURS: Monday through Thursday, 4 - 7 p.m. and Friday 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Description

Open to All since 1873, Columbus Metropolitan Library is well known for its signature services and programs like School Help, Reading Buddies, Summer Reading Challenge and Ready for Kindergarten. With its Main Library and 22 branches, CML responds to areas of urgent community need: kids unprepared for kindergarten, third grade reading proficiency, high school graduation, college and career readiness and employment resources.

CML was named a 2011 National Medal Winner by the Institute for Museum and Library Services for work in community service, the highest honor for libraries and museums. CML was also named 2010 Library of the Year by Library Journal.
