St. Martin de Porres Shelter volunteers work in a variety of jobs, which include serving meals, special food items, and beverages; distributing towels, bathrobes, and supplies; doing dishes; clearing buffet tables; and assisting staff. A volunteer can simply engage in conversations and be an empathetic, listening ear for our program participants. Other opportunities are tailored to volunteers' skills. For example, hair stylists provide barber services by cutting hair and trimming beards. There is ample time for conversation with shelter residents while in these positions. Hope to see you soon!

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide a hospitable, safe and orderly shelter for men 50 years of age and older who are homeless. This is to be done in the spirit of ministry of presence which fosters attention to the individual and respect for each man's unique situation.
Description
St. Martin de Porres provides emergency shelter for 52 homeless men age 50 and older every night of the year. Other services include hot meals, shower and hygiene facilities, laundry facilities, medical care, chemical dependency counseling, and housing case management.
