Plant natives on beautiful, historic Cerrito Creek at Albany Hill

ORGANIZATION: Friends of Five Creeks

Join us giving nature a helping hand!

Join Friends of Five Creeks volunteers planting natives along beautiful, historic Cerrito Creek at the foot of Albany Hill! Now that rain has come, we want to get plants in the ground so they can get established before summer's drought. You'll be helping wildlife and controlling erosion, as well as making the open space that stretches from creek to hilltop even more beautiful.

All welcome -- families can plant with children, and there's a play structure for the very young. Learn about the exciting history of Native American settlements, Spanish and Mexican land grants, dynamite making -- even a train robbery!

We supply snacks, tools, gloves, and good company. Wear closed-toed shoes with good traction and clothes that can get dirty! Dress in layers; long pants and long sleeves recommended. Organized groups please RSVP. Otherwise, just show up!

Meet at Creekside Park, south end of Santa Clara Ave., El Cerrito (short walk from AC Transit 72 or 25 or El Cerrito Plaza BART).

We work in a drizzle, but heavy rain cancels. If we are rained out, we'll try Sat., Feb. 18, same time and place. Info: f5creeks@gmail.com.
