They make lifelong friends and join a larger community of fun-loving, energetic, individuals intent on making a difference. Join our team and help change lives. New Volunteer Orientation and Training Dates posted on our website. Please check back often for updates!
How to Get Started: The first step to becoming a volunteer is to fill out an online volunteer application at www.heartsriding.org/volunteer. Once we review and approve your application, we will email you a PIN for you to use to sign up to attend a 90 minute New Volunteer Orientation followed by a separate 3-hour Sidewalking Training (for lesson volunteers). At the Orientation you will learn about the many volunteer opportunities at Hearts. No prior horse experience required; we will teach you everything you need to know! Minimum age to volunteer is 14 years old. At the Sidewalking Training and you will get hands-on training to be a sidewalker in lessons working with the riders and horses. Please note, assisting in the arena is quite physical work - walking and jogging at quick speeds on uneven terrain, sometimes with one arm elevated, for at least 30 consecutive minutes. Please note: Volunteer shifts are an ongoing weekly 4-hour commitment for a specific shift. (2-hr afterschool shift available for high school students).
