Are you 55 or older and eager to educate your community? Join AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP of Metro Atlanta, a volunteer program that mobilizes seasoned adults to serve as peer educators and advocates.
As an RSVP volunteer in this role, you will help older adults and persons with disabilities maintain healthy independent lifestyles. Conduct public presentations on various health topics including diabetes, medication management, preventive services, healthy sexuality (STD prevention). Discuss risk factors, treatment options, and the importance of preventative services and provide information on available free/low-cost services.
Travel to specified locations (senior centers, congregate residences or organization locations) to provide presentations and/or counseling. [NOTE: Presentations are currently virtual.]
Handle related, general administrative tasks and reporting volunteer hours and outreach
Distribute appropriate information and brochures to clients and consumers
Maintain strict confidentiality standards
To keep communities safe, all duties will be performed virtually until further notice.
