Bronzeville Buddies

Do you want to share your love of reading with students around Chicago? Are you available during weekday hours? Open Books Buddies ( http://open-books.org) may be the perfect opportunity for you!

Open Books Buddies is a twice-weekly program that allows elementary students to work one-on-one with a trained, supportive mentor to help boost reading skills such as fluency and comprehension. Twice each week, a Big Buddy and a Little Buddy pair read together in 30-minute segments. This allows each volunteer mentor to work with two students over the course of the academic year. The Big Buddy's job is to be a coach and role model whose love of books is contagious -- and maybe even life-changing -- for the Little Buddy.

How to get started:

1. Check the schedule and locations of our sites here: http://www.open-books.org/programs/programs_buddiesfull.php

2. Fill out our volunteer form and RSVP for an Open Books orientation: http://www.open-books.org/volunteer/volunteer_signup.php

We can't wait to read with you!
