Hospice volunteers include students, career homemakers, professionals, and retirees and they range in age from teens (16 years ) to senior adults. Hospice of Kankakee Valley volunteers gain professional and personal experience that many say prepares them for personal loss and caregiving. Along with learning new skills and contributing to your community, you can work as a member of the professional Interdisciplinary team of Hospice of Kankakee Valley by providing respite breaks for caregivers of patients, companionship for patients and families, and other forms of direct patient and family contact. Other types of volunteering include administrative support volunteers who assist in the Hospice of Kankakee Valley office, work on committees and fundraising, run errands, pick up and deliver supplies, provide professional pro bono assistance and various other tasks.
