Want to join a team of volunteers who donate their time and energy to bring companionship to older adults residing in Buncombe County?

Socializing with Seniors (SWS) is a program through the Council on Aging of Buncombe County that is designed to relieve loneliness and feelings of isolation by bringing the companionship of volunteers to persons who are restricted to their homes and often lack the support of family and friends.

SWS Volunteers are paired with an area senior who shares similar interests and goals. Activities can include sitting to chat, cooking or crafting together, playing board games, taking trips into the community, shopping, movies and more.

Visits are scheduled directly between the volunteer and participant and reporting is done via Google Drive so there is a high level of flexibility.

If interested in becoming a Socializing with Seniors volunteer please contact Heather Roberts-VanSickle at the Council on Aging at or 828-277-8288.
