Faith in Action is a volunteer-based agency that provides support to homebound frail seniors, persons with cancer and other chronic illnesses, persons with disabilities, and their family caregivers. This support is provided by our pool of trained volunteers.
Peer Counselors provide in-home, informal counseling to a homebound senior on a weekly basis through the agency's Senior Peer Counselor Program. Seniors requesting assistance oftentimes are managing loneliness, sadness, depression and anxiety stemming from isolation due to chronic illness or frailty. Peer counselors also assist family caregivers who also may be experincing mental distress due to their caregiving role.
The program also provides peer group counseling in Fairfield and Vallejo, and is in the process of adding more peer support groups.
Great opportunity for retire social workers or counselors. Peer Counselors receive up to 30 hours of training.
