Volunteer to monitor funeral and cemetery legislation

ORGANIZATION: Funeral Consumer Alliance of Pennsylvania

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

We are searching for a volunteer to monitor Pennsylvania legislation affecting funerals, funeral directors, cemeteries, burial and the sale of pre-need funeral contracts.

For example, some proposed legislation would have permitted insurance salesmen to collect names of senior citizens and sell "pre-need" funeral contracts to them.

Other legislation might have required consent of family members prior to organ donation, irrespective of what an individual indicates on their driver's license. etc.

Another legislation may prevent families from caring for their own dead or green burial practices.

Our volunteer would monitor legislation and report to the organization if anything arises. Volunteer can be located anywhere in the world, but must be able to keep up to date on Pennsylvania legislation.

We are available for free phone and email consultations to answer your questions and help you make plans, and provide information on a wide variety of end-of-life related issues including: advance directives and health care proxies, putting your financial house in order, hospice, burial, cremation, green burial, donation, embalming, viewing, funeral and memorial services, prices, how to choose a funeral home, and more.

We offer tools to empower you to make informed, thoughtful decisions about funeral and memorial arrangements before they are needed. We are a member of the Funeral Consumers Alliance (www.funerals.org), a national federation of funeral consumer information societies.
