The mission of Canal Alliance is to help low-income, Spanish-speaking immigrants acquire the tools they need to thrive. We accomplish this through our wraparound strategy which is designed to help people overcome barriers to the acquisition of the skills to thrive. This process involves recognizing the diverse skills immigrants already possess, resolving immediate needs or problems, identifying opportunities for growth, and monitoring their progress toward goals. Canal Alliance believes that when extremely low-income immigrants acquire the right skills and abilities they can overcome poverty and build a pathway to success as new Americans.
Responsibilities
* Use your car to provide necessary transportation to medical appointments and Fingerprint appointments. Appointments take place either in San Francisco or Santa Rosa.
*Walk our youth clients to the appointments and wait while they get their fingerprints taken or complete their medical appointment.
*Drive the client back to Canal Alliance.
*Promptly respond emails or phone calls from Canal Alliance staff
Skills & Competencies
*Commitment to the mission and goals of Canal Alliance
*Basic Spanish preferred but not required
Requirements
*Volunteer must have a valid driver’s license
*Own a car in good condition
*Car must have current insurance
*Drivers must pass criminal background check prior to participation
*Be available at least one day a month
*Sign and abide by our confidentiality agreement
