Hawaiian Mission Houses

Volunteer and work with staff at Hawaiian Mission Houses to update records of our genealogical society by inputting family data into genealogy software (Family Tree Maker) and creating archival records. This is a great opportunity to enhance your understanding of this specific Hawaiian and Missionary history. We are looking for assistance during normal business hours.

HMH preserves the heritage and interprets the stories of the American Protestant Missionaries, their descendants, and their relationships with the people and cultures of Hawai`i, connecting with contemporary life, and encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of the complex history of Hawaiʻi.

Mission Statement

Description

Mission Houses Museum was established in 1920 by the Hawaiian Mission Children's Society (HMCS), a non-profit educational institution and genealogical society. In 1974, the museum was granted full accreditation by the American Association of Museums (AAM).
Today, HMCS continues to gather genealogical data from descendants of the original Protestant missionary families who lived and worked in Hawai`i. Descendants are encouraged to explore their genealogies and to support Mission Houses Museum and the Hawaiian Mission Children's Society in preserving their heritage.
