The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla (chapter) 22-7 fosters greater public understanding, recognition and appreciation of the contributions, roles and missions of the men and women of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Coast Guard. The Band is available to fulfill a limited number of requests for performances at ceremonies for the Coast Guard Auxiliary & Coast Guard; march in local parades; perform public concerts, sporting events, memorial services, and veteran appreciation events/concerts.
The Band's missions is to make musical and ceremonial public appearances to promote the awareness, goals, and recruitment of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, the volunteer, uniformed, non-military branch of the US Coast Guard. Its public affairs missions, which include marching in parades and performing sitdown concerts, provides public recognition and exposure for the Auxiliary and the Coast Guard itself. In addition, it is a potential magnet for new young musicians to use their talent in a patriotic way to grow the Auxiliary. Typical performances include the Intrepid Museum, VA Hospital, Change of Watch ceremonies, Oysterfest, band shell concerts, sport events, various parades on Long Island and in Manhattan. Ideal for ex-military musicians.
The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Band Contingent of Flotilla 22-7 was formed in November 2007. We are looking for more instrumentalists to fill in our ranks. If you have a little bit of patriotism in you and want to help your country by using your musical skills on Long Island, then please come and join us. If your playing is a little rusty this is the perfect venue to get you back into playing. Also ideal for ex-military musicians to continue playing. For more information and to read about some of our events, visit our website at www.uscgauxband.org. Members must be at least 17 years old and pass a security background check. We rehearse every other Tuesday evening from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm in the Band room at the Northport Middleville School in Northport. The Band is part of Flotilla 22-7 in Fort Salonga, NY, a local "chapter" of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is a division of US Coast Guard, a branch of US Homeland Security. All members must pay annual dues of $35 and must purchase their uniform. Basic uniform is approx. $150. Overgarments are extra.
We'll work with your schedule.
