Patients at the Hospital for Special Care Satellite in Hartford, CT, would love to have dogs visit. Do you have a friendly, loving dog you'd like to share? Put a smile on a patients' face and make a difference in their lives!
Come once a week for an hour and be a part of our mission to rebuild lives. Guidelines: the dog must be at least 1 year old, weigh 15 lbs. or under, completed obedience training, up-to-date vaccinations, and a note from the vet stating the dog is healthy and well-behaved.
You will be welcomed with open arms by staff and patients.

Description
Hospital for Special Care is a private, not-for-profit, 228 bed Long-Term, Acute-Care hospital licensed by the state of CT. as a chronic disease hospital. The hospital is renowned for its expertise in physical rehabilitation, respiratory care and medically-complex pediatrics. In addition, special programs are available in the treatment of spinal cord injuries and illness, acquired brain injuries, strokes and breathing disorders.
We also provide a full range of outpatient services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, rehabilitation evaluation, neuropsychology and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. The hospital also includes a 27,000 foot Aquatic Rehabilitation Center, which completes the full spectrum of rehabilitation and community fitness activities offered.
We also have a 28 bed satellite facility located within Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. The satellite serves patients who are medically or surgically complex and/or require specialized care.
