Witty Kitties is a private, non-profit shelter that provides lifelong care to approximately 50 cats with special medical needs, including FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), FeLV (feline leukemia virus), and congenital deformities such as blindness, deafness, and neurological disorders. We allow our cats to roam free in the shelter. It has several large rooms with big windows, soft, comfortable furniture for hanging out, and nooks and hideouts for the shy ones. Each room has a kitty door to a large, fenced outdoor area with tree trunks for climbing and various perches for snoozing. We strive to provide a comfortable and loving environment while seeking to find permanent adoptive homes for all our kitties.
Volunteer opportunities are geared to each individual and may involve general cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, laundry), or more direct interactions with the cats, including feeding, brushing, cuddling, etc.
Contact us and we'll give you details on what's required as far as time commitments, etc. We're VERY flexible re: sheduling volunteers and our critters would love to have you join the team!

Mission Statement
Founded in 2000, Witty Kitties provides quality care and shelter to cats with specitic chronic medicals needs within the five-state area we serve. We cooperate with other local non-profits to provide low-cost medical care and spay/neuter services for local shelters, rural cat colonies, and individuals with multiple cats. We also provide rescue, care and appropriate housing for a variety of reptiles.
As part of our overall service to the community, Witty Kitties works to educate the public regarding proper care of these companion animals and, ideally, to find permanent homes for them.
Description
We are a small, private, non-profit special needs animal shelter. We primarily provide shelter and care for cats with chronic medical conditions such as feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus, as well as other non-retroviruses and congenital deformaties.
We also rescue a variety of reptiles. However, working with the reptiles requires special assistance from a board member at Witty Kitties.
Volunteers tend to the animals twice a day. We do not have a full time staff.
We think it is the coolest place on earth. Please come and join us in our efforts for the animals.
