ORGANIZATION: Heartland Hospice

The volunteer will visit a hospice patient who has a terminal diagnosis. A friendly visit can consist of a variety of social interactions, such as talking, listening, looking at pictures, reading, singing songs, telling jokes, and many other normal social contact. The volunteer will have proper training and support to make the visits very meaningful to both patient and volunteer.

Mission Statement

The mission of heartland Hospice is to provide quality hospice care to patients with a limited life expectancy, as well as support to their caregivers. The quality of life for those we serve is enhanced through palliative and specilized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patients and caregivers. Hospice care is provided by an interdisciplinary team utilizing an approch to the care delived to patients either in their own home or extended care facility; working cooperatively with area health care providers and other community resources. Heartland strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hopice care irrespective of ability to pay.

Volunteers are a part of the Hospice team. We depend on our volunteers to help us provide the extra love and care our clients and their famililes need at this time in their life

Volunteers offer support, companionship and practical, caring help to this special group of people. Volunteers may use their own special talents to share with the patients.

As a Heartland Hospice volunteer, your can donate as much or as little of your time as you desire, The duties of our volunteers are varied. This flexibility allows you to find an area of service that is uniquely sutied to you as well as provide you with the greatest personal satisfaction.

  • Driver's License Needed
  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • You can volunteer a little as 1 hour/week or as much as you would like.
  • To ensure the safety of our patients, and the integrity of our volunteers, we require a background check, drug screen, and we provide 13 hours of valuable training before the volunteer can visit patients.
