The Kennedy Center is one of the largest not-for-profit rehabilitation organization in Connecticut providing services to persons with a wide range of disabilities throughout Fairfield and New Haven Counties. The Center actively responds to the needs of the Community by offering innovative, comprehensive services. Its mission is to empower consumers with diverse abilities, disabilities and experiences toward optimal participation and inclusion in the community.

Founded over 57 years ago, the Center serves more than 2,000 people a day, from infants to seniors. A variety of vocational, residential, educational, therapeutic, social and recreational programs are offered to individuals with a wide range of disabilities and special needs including mental retardation, psychiatric disabilities, autism and acquired brain injury. Our services support the advancement of the field of rehabilitation.

Volunteer involvement is an important component of The Kennedy Center. Our agency was founded through the efforts of loyal, hardworking, dedicated volunteers and continues to thrive largely because of our volunteers' efforts. Along with employment, we offer volunteer opportunities in the following areas:

Description

People with disabilities have the same dreams as all of us. They want to live, work , have friends and be part of their community. The Kennedy Center supports these desires and wishes by offering a broad range of programs and services for children, adults and the elderly with diverse disabilities.

By providing individually designed person-centered planning, family support and community involvement, The Kennedy Center creates a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. Our dedicated staff work closely with each individual and their family members to explore every avenue of interest. Using a "Team " collaboration process, the individual is able to try new experiences and challenges that are often seen as impossible.
