Imagine having a childhood where you were mistreated so terribly that you spent more time in the hospital than out...imagine having a parent who left you wondering when you would eat again...imagine raising your brothers and sisters, because one day your parents left and never came back...
CASA volunteers advocate for children who face these types of obstacles and help them see that life can give everyone a second chance! Volunteers are appointed to speak up for the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in Juvenile Court proceedings. They visit with the child(ren) on the case, learn about his or her life, make recommendations to the Judge, and do everything they can to keep that child from "falling through the cracks."
The role of the CASA volunteer is tremendously important. If you are passionate about helping abused and neglected children, or have an interest in child welfare or juvenile law, CASA may be the right volunteer oppportunity. Contact us to learn more about the program and how we will support you in this role.

About Summit County CASA
Location:
Summit County Juvenile Court, 650 Dan St, Akron, OH 44310, US
Mission Statement
The mission of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is to provide every child who enters the court system, by no fault of their own, due to allegations of abuse or neglect, a trained community volunteer to make recommendations for their best interest.. We promote and support quality volunteer representation for children to provide each child a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.
Description
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, and nurturing homes. That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she/they can thrive. It is the CASA's vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child.
