Hospice Volunteers Needed! If you are compassionate, caring, and have a calling to help others, becoming a hospice volunteer might be the perfect opportunity for you. Our volunteers give their time, talent and hearts generously and unselfishly - yet commonly feel that they receive more than they give.
Volunteers may choose the area in which they prefer to function and the hours they are willing to donate. We serve all of the Greater Cincinnati/Dayton/Columbus Ohio region.
Some areas to volunteer include:
- Patient Support: Providing Companionship to the Patient and/or Caregiver Relief.
- Administrative: Data Entry, Filing and Office Assistance.
- Special Projects: Sewing, Letter writing, creating care packages.
- Bereavement Support.
Steps to become a Hospice Volunteer:
*Must be over age 18 to participate
*A desire to help make a difference in the lives of patients and families
*Email Mary Maune at mary.maune@compassus.com to request an application, and arrange a time to discuss what it means to be a hospice volunteer.
*Attend an Orientation and training virtually or at one of our offices.
*Successfully pass a criminal background check and two-step TB test, at no cost to you. If you cannot take the TB skin test, you will need to provide a copy of your x-ray results. If you have documentation of a negative skin test within the past 12 months, please provide this to our office.

Description
Compassus Hospice - Western Ohio serves Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus and surrounding communities providing end of life care.
At the heart of hospice is the belief that everyone has the right to dignity and freedom from pain at the end of life.
That's why Compassus creates personalized care plans, giving patients the specific care they need and deserve.
Hospice is a service brought to the patient wherever they live. We focus on reducing physical and emotional suffering during the final stages of illness, and increases the quality of life for patients, their families and loved ones.
Volunteers typically travel 5-20 miles from their home or work addresses to visits patients 2-4X a month.
