Patient Care Volunteer

A volunteer's presence can be extremely comforting even if the volunteer only sits quietly in the room. Volunteers read to patients, talk about the patient's life, listen to music, play games, take the patient for a walk in their wheelchair or suggest other activities they could share. This time allows the family much-needed respite for activities that they need to do out of the house. Graduates of the Volunteer Training class will serve their neighbors in a variety of ways; as volunteers in hospice, pastoral care, nursing facilities, social service agencies and children's support programs. Volunteers will work in their community. A one year commitment is needed.
