Simpson Housing Services has a program to move women who have experienced homelessness for a long time into safe, affordable housing. The program is called the Women's Housing Partnership.

Most of the women have been homeless 3-5 years each, and even more of them have been homeless 5-8 years. Some of the women have struggled with domestic violence, chemical dependency, mental illness, and disabilities which have prevented them from earning enough income to locate housing.

Because the women are moving from shelter they have the clothes on their back and a small bag of other belongings when they move into their new homes. We would love them to feel welcome to their new homes and that others care for them. Help us celebrate!

To make a Celebration Gift Basket you will need a laundry basket and about $50. With the $50, please choose some basic household items from the list below at a local discount store and put them inside the laundry basket.

• handheld can opener
• clock radio
• cooking utensils, pot with a top, pan
• laundry soap
• hygiene supplies (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair brush, nail clippers, toothbrush, toothpaste deodorant, floss, q-tips)
• paper towels
• plates, bowls, cups/glasses/mugs, silverware
• broom, mop
• cleaning supplies (all-purpose spray, ajax, floor cleaner)
• dish rack
• dish towels
• twin size sheet set
• pillow
• facial tissue
• toilet paper
• shower curtain and rings
• dish soap
• flashlight
• small first aid kit
• trash bags
• food storage containers,
• small wastebasket
• wall clock
• light bulbs
• bath towel and wash cloth

You can put all of the items into the laundry basket and finish it off with a card to welcome her into her new home. You are welcome to make one basket, or as many as you'd like. Thank you!
