This volunteer position's role is to pick up animals from the Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha (8929 Fort St, Omaha, NE 68134) and deliver them to our Baldwin Wildlife Center (9777 M St, Omaha, NE 68127). We typically have one AM shift and one PM shift per day, 7 days a week, year-round. Additional shifts may be created depending on the season.
- AM shifts are 10-10:30am during Baby Season (typically April through September), and 11-11:30am during Non-Baby Season.
- PM shifts are between 4:15-6pm on weekdays, and 4:15-5pm on weekends.
We currently have a need for a weekly transport volunteer for the following days:
- Monday AM
- Sunday PM
This volunteer position also has the ability for the volunteer to be On-Call, in case any of our usual weekly Transport Volunteers are unable to make it to one of their shifts.
There is a required in-person Volunteer Orientation as well as an additional in-person Humane Society Transport Volunteer Training Class that need to be completed before you can sign up for shifts.
All volunteers must be over the age of 18, have proof of valid auto insurance and a valid driver's license.
NWR's current COVID-19 policy requires all volunteers working around the animals (including transporters) to be COVID vaccinated with a vaccine/booster that has been received within the last 12 months. We have this policy due to certain species of wild animals we get in, like bobcats & mustelids, that can contract and die from COVID-19.
*NWR is currently unable to reimburse fuel/mileage.
