EmpowHERto partners with black and Latina girls and young women from underserved communities between 14-21, empowering them with the necessary tools to thrive and effect positive systemic change.
EmpowerHERto is looking for a passionate Web Developer & Designer (volunteer) to help maintain and improve our website. This is a flexible, part-time role (10 hrs/week) perfect for students, early-career developers, or anyone looking to gain real-world experience while supporting a meaningful cause. You’ll work on small updates, landing pages, and UX improvements-great for building your portfolio!
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and build responsive, user-friendly websites aligned with organizational goals
- Collaborate with the Communications, PR, and Marketing teams on branding and design consistency
- Maintain and update existing websites and troubleshoot technical issues
- Implement best practices for SEO, accessibility, and site performance
- Manage CMS platforms and plugins (e.g., WordPress, Webflow)
- Ensure mobile optimization and cross-browser compatibility
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and site mockups for stakeholder review
- Support special campaign pages and donation-driven site enhancements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience in both web development and graphic/UX design
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and design tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Figma
- Familiarity with nonprofit communications or cause-based organizations (a plus!)
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
- Ability to balance creative thinking with technical execution
