Dementia Cares Volunteers needed - Green Valley and virtual roles

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Pima Council on Aging

Dementia Cares Ministry, in partnership with PCOA, is seeking volunteers in the Green Valley area and virtually to help in various roles.

  • Memory Cafe Assistant: help with set-up, clean-up, greeting, hosting and/or record-keeping along with others on the team. Team members also meet separately to plan for future Memory Cafes. Volunteers should have knowledge of/familiarity with topics related to dementia, with some training provided.
  • Forums: held monthly to provide community education about dementia, including topics involving medical, social, and psychological impact. Work as part of a team to plan and host forums. Volunteers should have some knowledge of these issues and help identify potential topics and speakers.
  • Stressbusters: A structured program for caregivers of those with dementia, providing tools to help reduce the impact of stress in their lives. Volunteers will undergo a 4 - 6 hour training to be group leaders. Volunteers should have experience in teaching or small group facilitation.
  • Caregiver Support Group Leaders: a more informal setting for caregivers to share stories and receive support. Experience with group facilitation is preferred.

For all roles, volunteers should expect to undergo a background check, and be interviewed to ensure a good fit for all. While some roles will need to be in-person, others can sometimes happen over Zoom. Regional volunteers could be considered for the virtual roles, and should be comfortable with computers and virtual meetings.
