More information:
PPL Youth Enrichment Series are programs available to youth living in PPL housing communities. Enrichment Series typically run for 3-6 sessions at a time throughout the year. We ask that volunteers commit to the whole series, (for the summer, August 11th-14th, 2025), to allow for consistency and relationship building with the community and youth. This Enrichment Series will be open to varying age groups (5-18 years old) and center around tennis. Activities will start and end at the housing location, with majority of our time at Homecroft tennis courts, located at 2585-2611 Edgcumbe Rd, St Paul, MN 55116. Volunteer total hour commitment for this series is 22 hours.
What you will be doing:
Support youth participating in PPL youth programs by providing a positive, supportive, and engaging environment for youth to learn, grow, and explore.
Engage youth in a variety of tennis-based activities prepared by PPL staff or program partners. Celebrate accomplishments and successes; redirect youth as needed.
Build relationships with youth and facilitate connections across youth.
Assist staff in creating a safe, productive, and supportive environment for all youth.
Qualities we hope to see in a volunteer:
Enthusiasm to learn alongside young people.
Patience, understanding, and flexibility to adapt to each youth’s needs for the day.
Interest in working across age groups and interest areas.
Ability to work independently and maintain consistent daily attendance.
Commitment to empowering others by sharing your skills and knowledge.
Passion for working with youth from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Comfortable interacting with parents/guardians to support youth success.
