We need your help to keep great books accessible to communities 24/7. As a volunteer, you will visit this Little Free Library in Canton to distribute books once every two weeks. This book-sharing box needs a mix of genres, including books in Spanish.

We're looking for volunteers who can commit to distributing books to this Little Free Library for 6 months. We can suggest free or low-cost sources of books - or, if you're a bookworm yourself, you can distribute your own. Up to 20 books are needed every two weeks, so anything that you can contribute would be helpful.

Register on our website to get started. If it's your first time signing up with Team LFL, you will need to create an account in our online volunteer hub.

After you register, we will send tips and resources. Little Free Library staff and the Little Free Library caretaker (the steward) can answer your questions along the way.

The flexibility can't be beat: visit the Little Free Library whenever it fits in your schedule, as long as it’s being restocked once every two weeks.

Purpose: By keeping Little Free Libraries filled with books, you are helping to build community, inspire readers, and expand book access.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect a mix of genres, including books in Spanish.
  • Travel to the Little Free Library to distribute books once every two weeks for 6 months.
  • Use the Little Free Library app to check-in and track how many books you shared.
  • Submit an Impact form in our volunteer hub at the end of the 6 month commitment.

Resources Available: We will help you get started with some tips for book sources and using our Little Free Library app.

Supervision & Support: You can connect with the Little Free Library steward or Brianna, the Community Engagement Manager, to ask questions.

Our mission is to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a global network of volunteer-led Little Free Library book-exchange boxes.

Description

Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota. How do we achieve our mission and vision?

  1. Providing 24/7 book access.
    Little Free Library book-sharing boxes are open seven days a week, 24 hours a day and are freely accessible to all, removing barriers to book access.
  2. Fostering new Little Free Libraries.
    Little Free Library (LFL) equips, educates, and guides volunteer stewards to establish Little Free Libraries in their communities.
  3. Granting Little Free Libraries to high-need areas.
    Through our programs, LFL grants no-cost Little Free Libraries full of books to underserved urban, suburban, rural, and Indigenous communities.
  4. Championing diverse books.
    Through our Read in Color program, LFL makes books available representing BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other diverse voices to promote understanding, empathy, and inclusion.
  5. Working with key community partners.
    LFL collaborates with schools, public libraries, civic organizations, businesses, and other groups to bring Little Free Libraries to their communities.
