We are seeking a Volunteer Events Manager, a driven, organized, and impact-focused individual who loves bringing people together. As Events Manager, you’ll take the lead on planning and executing our key events throughout the year, including STEM Odyssey, camps, outreach events, and special initiatives. You'll help design experiences that inspire, educate, and engage youth from all backgrounds.
This is a leadership role that works closely with management and other department leads to ensure our events run smoothly, align with our mission, and continue to grow in scale and impact. If you're a "gets things done" person with strong leadership and organizational skills and care deeply about empowering communities, we’d love to have you on board.
Position Type: Hybrid. Most work will be done online, but you are required to be in the Greater Vancouver, BC area for in-person events and initiatives
Time Commitment: 7 hours/week
Qualifications
A strong passion for creating meaningful community impact.
Preferably leadership or management experience in education, youth programming, or nonprofit work.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and manage multiple moving parts.
A "get things done" attitude-someone who doesn’t just plan, but executes.
Experience working with diverse teams and communities is an asset.
Familiarity with Google Workspace and project management tools is a plus.
Responsibilities
Plan & Lead Events: Oversee the full event lifecycle-from ideation and planning to logistics and execution-for major DC Coding events and initiatives.
Team Coordination: Recruit, manage, and support event volunteers and team leads, ensuring smooth collaboration and communication.
Outreach & Partnerships: Work with sponsors, partners, schools, and community organizations to build connections and grow event reach.
Operations & Logistics: Manage event timelines, communications, registrations, supplies, documentation, and follow-up processes.
Creative Direction: Bring fresh ideas to the table and continuously look for ways to improve our event experiences.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams to align goals and maximize impact.
