Youth Sunday School Teacher

ORGANIZATION: The Salvation Army Solano County/The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center Suisun City

The Youth Sunday School Teacher is responsible for providing spiritual education to children and youth, helping them develop a strong foundation in their faith. This role involves creating engaging, age-appropriate lessons based on biblical teachings while fostering a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for learning.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
⦁ Prepare and teach weekly Sunday School lessons in accordance with the church’s curriculum.
⦁ Use interactive activities such as storytelling, games, crafts, and music to reinforce lessons.
⦁ Encourage student participation and facilitate discussions to help youth apply biblical principles to their daily lives.
⦁ Establish and maintain a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
⦁ Maintain attendance records and communicate with parents as needed.
⦁ Serve as a role model by demonstrating Christian values and positive behavior.
⦁ Assist in planning special youth events, holiday programs, or outreach activities.
⦁ Follow all Salvation Army policies regarding child safety and classroom management.

Qualifications:
⦁ Must be at least 16 years old.
⦁ Passion for working with children and youth in a faith-based setting.
⦁ Strong understanding of biblical principles and willingness to teach from The Salvation Army’s perspective.
⦁ Good communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
⦁ Experience in teaching or working with children is preferred but not required.
⦁ Must pass a background check and complete child safety training before teaching.

Schedule & Time Commitment:
⦁ Sundays, ongoing
⦁ Typically 9:30am-12:30pm every Sunday, plus lesson preparation time.

Additional Information:
⦁ Orientation and training provided on curriculum, classroom management, and child safety policies.
