Currently, WMSC and Mary Free Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports are working in tandem with Move United to put on The Hartford Nationals.

The Hartford Nationals by Move United is an event taking place July 11th-17th, 2025, at multiple venues around the lower Grand Rapids area. Primarily focused on Calvin University's campus, this event is the largest sports competition where over 400 athletes with physical disabilities compete. It is similar to the Paralympics, but at an amateur level, hosting youth, adults, and wounded veterans. Some examples of sports we will help put on include Track and Field, Archery, Shooting, Para Powerlifting, and so many more! Additional information on the event can also be found through Move United's website: TheHartfordNationals.org

Our organization is looking for volunteers to help run events varying from greeting athletes and families, helping with competitions, helping set up lunch areas, and tons more! These volunteer opportunities, their specific requirements, and locations can be found through our volunteer sign-up page: https://schedule.planhero.com/events/02a883fa4/hartford-nationals

Nobody needs to have prior experience with the sport itself either! We will have instructors there to help in all aspects. The only thing is they must be 16 and older to volunteer!
