Safe House:
The needs of clients residing in our safe houses are always changing, so there is no way to
make an exact description of a volunteer role. In general, we are looking for people able to
come to one of our safe houses in Norwalk or Stamford and give a class or an engaging
activity.

We are always looking for people to cook and deliver meals to our community offices for
DVCC staff to deliver to safe house residents.

We are looking for lawn/garden/landscaping care in our safe house gardens and
backyards.

Mission Statement

DVCC's mission is to prevent and eliminate domestic violence by providing comprehensive services, support, and education. Our work is aimed at helping individuals build safe lives for themselves and their families while fostering awareness and prevention within the community.

Description

Since 1980, the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) has provided counseling and advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and their children. DVCC is the only state-certified agency recognized by the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) serving the communities of Norwalk, Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Westport, Weston and Wilton.

DVCC’s role is to help those experiencing any level of domestic violence and assist them in building a safer environment for the well-being of themselves and their families. Our services include housing and financial advocacy, legal advocacy, trauma-informed individual and group counseling, and emergency safe housing. All victim services are free and confidential.
