Mission Statement

The African International Documentary Festival Foundation (AFIDFF) is committed to uncovering and promoting underrepresented African stories through documentary filmmaking, cultural education, and creative expression. We empower emerging filmmakers, preserve Africa’s cultural heritage, and foster cross-cultural dialogue. Through storytelling, innovation, and social impact programs, we inspire peace, advance cultural rights, and create sustainable opportunities for future generations across the continent.

Description

The African International Documentary Festival Foundation (AFIDFF) is a dynamic platform dedicated to empowering young African talents, especially emerging storytellers, documentary film makers, and social entrepreneurs, to tell the authentic stories of Africa through film, storytelling, and cultural expression.

Rooted in the belief that Africa and her people possess a rich cultural heritage, history, politics, and philosophical depth that has shaped global narratives and influenced perception, AFIDFF works to ensure that voices from the margins are not only heard but celebrated.

The Foundation’s core mission is to discover, train, and elevate documentarians and filmmakers to the peak of their craft, while championing new voices in documentary filmmaking and cultural storytelling. By showcasing African history and heritage, AFIDFF fosters cultural exchange, promotes social change, and drives conversations that preserve the continent’s identity.

Beyond storytelling, AFIDFF actively contributes to the promotion and preservation of Africa’s heritage sites, festivals, and traditional cultures, reinforcing the importance of memory, identity, and legacy. Through its programs, the Foundation cultivates a new generation of socially conscious creatives committed to transforming Africa’s narrative, one story at a time
