Comfort & Care Blankets is a volunteer project organized by The C.A.R.E. Group, a youth-led organization based in New Jersey that promotes volunteerism and supports pediatric patients and families in need. These handmade no-sew fleece blankets will be donated to local hospitals, shelters, and women’s and children’s homes to bring warmth and comfort to children undergoing treatment and others facing hardship. You will earn 3.5 volunteer hours for 3 blankets or 1 hour per blanket you create.
How to Make Your Blanket:
Purchase 1.5 yards of fleece in any color or pattern.
Lay the fleece flat and trim the edges evenly.
Cut a 4-inch square out of each corner.
Along all four sides, cut fringe strips about 1 inch wide and 4-5 inches long.
Take two fringe strips next to each other and tie them together in a secure knot. Repeat all the way around.
Shipping or Drop-Off:
When your blanket is finished, put it in a box:
We will contact you with the shipping address after you sign up. If you do not receive it, please email us.
If you live nearby, you can drop it off. Please email us a date when you plan to drop it off, and just leave it at the front door of the house.
After we receive your blanket, we will steam-treat it to help kill any bacteria and stitch on a "The C.A.R.E. Group" patch before it is donated to local hospitals, shelters, and community programs that serve children and families in need. We’ll also send you a digital volunteer hours certificate as a thank you.
If you have any questions, please email us at contactthec.a.r.e.group@gmail.com.
