Recruiting Organization: OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates: East Bay Chapter

OCA-East Bay ( ocaeastbay.org) has been organizing this PickITup Chinatown program for the better part of 7 years. The goal is to teach community ownership through picking up garbage/litter, reporting problems to City public works and abating graffiti.

We meet almost every Second Sunday of each month from 11am-2pm, meeting up at Wilma Chan (Madison) Park.

We have had strong partnership from the following over the years:

  • Oakland Adopt A Spot Program
  • Alameda County Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas
  • Alameda County Supervisor Lena Tam
  • Asian Youth Services Committee
  • BuildOn Oakland High
  • Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce
  • Oakland Chinatown Improvement Council
  • Oakland Chinatown Coalition
  • Boy Scout Troop 201
  • Athenian School
