Role Description
This is a volunteer, primarily remote role for a Volunteer Manager at A Home of Their Own Animal Rescue. The Volunteer Manager will be responsible for supporting and growing our volunteer program, onboarding new volunteers, and helping coordinate ongoing engagement. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our rescue operations run smoothly by connecting the right people to the right opportunities.
The position requires approximately 5-10 virtual hours per week, with four in-person events per year in the MD area.
Responsibilities include:
Completing onboarding for new volunteers (remote)
Recruiting and retaining volunteers
Coordinating volunteer assignments for events or ongoing needs
Planning and attending quarterly in-person volunteer socials
Hosting quarterly volunteer update meetings
Tracking volunteer engagement and satisfaction
Qualifications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Comfortable working independently and remotely
Experience in volunteer coordination, onboarding, or HR preferred
Basic understanding of animal rescue operations (or willingness to learn)
Passion for animal welfare and supporting rescue efforts
Availability to attend 4 in-person events per year (locations vary in MD area)
