Atlanta Angels knows that not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone can make a difference in the life of a child. There are several ways you can make a difference. We have the Love Box program, where we match a foster family with a volunteer in their community who is committed to building a relationship and showing consistently. The Love Box program provides fostering families (caregivers, children in foster care, and biological/adopted children) with community and holistic support. As a Love Box group, you will be matched with a local foster family based on location, compatibility, and scope of needs. When our families are matched with committed volunteers who show up monthly, parents feel supported and children gain a greater sense of normalcy, relational permanency, and self confidence.

This program requires a one-year commitment, with meetings at least once a month with your family.

We are currently seeking specific volunteers to be matched with a family on our waitlist! We are specifically looking for volunteers in or around the Dallas area for family number #44. This single foster mama is a middle school special ed science teacher who has been fostering for 16 years. She has 4 of a sibling set of 8 in her home (12 y/o, 11 y/o, 7y/o, 1 y/o) for about 2 years, and they have great bonds with this caregiver. The caregiver’s elderly mother also lives with her. Both she and her kiddos need lots of emotional support because they are about to experience a major transition related to the kiddos’ case plan. Someone who can wrap around the family with lots of love, understanding, and emotional validation would be amazing!

Mission Statement

To walk alongside children in the foster care system, as well as their caretakers, by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship.

Description

Atlanta Angels is a foster care non-profit that was created to help empower children and build sustainable foster homes. We are a community of people that walk alongside foster children and their caretakers by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building and mentorship. Our solution to the foster care crisis are the Love Box family support program and Dare to Dream youth mentor programs. Our programs utilize a trauma-informed, wrap-around service model that strengthens relationships between foster families, youth in foster care, and bio families. Our volunteers are everyday people who meet practical needs while spending quality time with the whole family building positive community. They are changing the way kids and parents experience the foster care system. At Atlanta Angels we believe in the power of love and the value of friendship and positive role models for kids and youth in foster care. We want to connect people passionate about making a difference in the foster care community to our most vulnerable children and youth who have experienced neglect and abuse and the selfless parents who care for them.
